Wonderkid Lennart Karl of Bayern Munich isn’t holding back when it comes to his goals. From preseason sensation to Champions League standout, the 17-year-old has shot to prominence at the German record champions. Even though the young player hasn’t been called up to the senior team yet, he is undoubtedly aiming for a spot in Julian Nagelsmann’s World Cup roster for next summer.

Karl recently stated at a fan event, “Of course I would love to go to the World Cup,” according to Bild (via @iMiaSanMia). “I have to do well, and we’ll see if it works out in the end.” It would be unique to attend the World Cup at the age of 17. I’m putting in a lot of effort, and perhaps I’ll be rewarded.

Karl has been a pleasure to see and has been working so hard. It would be fantastic to watch him shine not just this summer but at numerous Men’s World Cups in the future. Bayern—and Germany—have something exceptional on their hands.
