Public transportation provider DSW21 has been notified that the trade union intends to hold all-day strikes on Friday, February 27, and Saturday, February 28, as part of the ongoing public sector payment discussions. This implies that all DSW21 light rail and bus lines, as well as the H-Bahn (suspended monorail), will not operate on both days for people using public transportation in Dortmund. This is applicable from Friday at approximately 03:30 CET, when services begin, until Sunday at approximately 01:30 CET, when services conclude. Regional services (S-Bahn, RE, and RB) and long-distance rail services won’t be impacted.
Therefore, we kindly request that all ticket holders do the following in relation to our Bundesliga home game against FC Bayern Munich on Saturday evening (18:30 CET):
Kindly get to the stadium as soon as you can.
Not only should you come early, but you should ideally do so on foot or by bicycle. You can leave your bikes in one of the stadium’s three designated bike parking lots.
If you still need to drive, there are parking lots at TU Dortmund University, the Phoenix-West site, the vocational training center in Hacheney, and Hörde train station from which you can get to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK in 30 to 45 minutes. The parking lots at Parkhäuser Tiefgarage Theater, Tiefgarage Rathaus, Tiefgarage Westentor, Tiefgarage Hansaplatz, Garagenanlage Hauptbahnhof, Garagenanlage Am Friedensplatz, and Garagenanlage Am Freistuh are all partially extending their hours of operation and will remain open until (at least) 23:00 CET.
We highly warn vehicles not to utilize parking lots A through F if they do not have a parking permit in advance. On game day, parking permits won’t be available for purchase. DOPARK 21 and Messe Dortmund are the stores where parking permits can be pre-purchased.
Unfortunately, there is no university shuttle available.
Additionally, DSW21 offers free parking at bus stations with its own bays. With the city of Dortmund, this has been decided.
Please take the Deutsche Bahn (German Rail), which is unaffected by the strike, to the main train station if you are traveling from outside the city. SIGNAL IDUNA PARK is a 40-minute walk away.
Please do not take the S-Bahn to Möllerbrücke station or the regional train to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK station for safety concerns. Limits on capacity will soon be reached.
Due to the large number of people who will be departing SIGNAL IDUNA PARK right after the game and the fact that thousands of fans will not be able to use public transportation as normal because of the strike, we kindly ask that you:
Take your time exiting the stadium, maintain your composure, account for lengthier wait periods, and, in all of your personal plans, keep the safety of any kids or teenagers with you in mind.
Just like Borussia Dortmund will do within SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, the aforementioned pertinent institutions will exert all effort outside the stadium to guarantee the seamless execution of Saturday’s match day.
However, on Saturday, we will all be more reliant than ever on each fan meticulously planning their own arrival and departure in advance and not only noting but also considering the information offered.
