Tennessee’s Knoxville Five Tennessee football student-athletes were named to the 2025 NCAA Division I Football Academic All-District Team, according to a Tuesday announcement by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Josh Turbyville, Nathan Robinson, Jackson Ross, Ben Bolton, and Colton Hood were recognized for their collective achievement in the classroom and on the field.

A program record set in 2023 was tied by Tennessee’s five Academic All-District choices.

Bolton was named to the Academic All-District for the second time in his career, following his recognition in 2023. In 12 games in 2025, the Memphis redshirt junior linebacker recorded a career-high 18 tackles and two quarterback hurries. Bolton, who has been selected to the SEC Academic Honor Roll twice, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in management at Haslam College of Business.

Before declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, Hood made an immediate impression during his one and only season with the Vols, starting all 12 regular season games at cornerback. The McDonough, Georgia, Thorpe Award semifinalist finished with 50 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery returned for a score, one interception returned for a touchdown, and eight pass breakups. He is pursuing an undergraduate degree in journalism and electronic media and was named an All-SEC by both the league head coaches and the media.

During his third season at Tennessee, Robinson established himself in the defensive tackle rotation. The redshirt sophomore has 14 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup at the end of the season. His strip sack that resulted in a Tennessee scoop-and-score during the season’s first game against Syracuse was his most memorable moment. The native of Greenbrier, Tennessee, is majoring in kinesiology and has been selected to the SEC Academic Honor Roll twice.

Ross was named Academic All-District for the second time in his career in 2023. During his third season as Tennessee’s starting punter in 2025, the Ray Guy Award semifinalist participated in all 13 games. Twenty of his 39 punts were trapped inside the 20-yard line, for a total of 1,716 yards (44.0 average). Ross is working on a bachelor’s degree in sport management with a business administration minor.

As a first-time winner, Turbyville completes the list of Tennessee’s Academic All-District honors. He has been the main kickoff specialist for the Vols for the last three seasons. In 2025, he was named to the second team of the SEC after scoring 71 touchdowns on 83 kickoffs for 5,294 yards. Marketing is the main focus of the Knoxville Catholic product.
