Algeria advanced to the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations after defeating the Democratic Republic of the Congo 1-0 in extra time. Ramy Bensebaini of Borussia participated in the whole game.

The penultimate round of 16 match of the Africa Cup of Nations, currently taking place in Morocco, pitted Algeria against DR Congo. Ramy Bensebaini, a defender for Borussia Dortmund, started the game in central defense. In the 17th minute, the Borussian player had a chance to score, but he failed to take advantage of it. After 90 minutes without a goal, the game went into extra time since his teammates were likewise unsuccessful. The 115th minute was Bensebaini’s next opportunity. Algeria won 1-0 after scoring the game-winning goal four minutes later, just before the final whistle.

Nigeria will play Algeria in the quarterfinals. On Saturday, kickoff is scheduled for 17:00 CET.
